How to download all your Google reviews

You can read and reply to reviews in Google Business Profile, but there's no button to download them. That makes it hard to answer simple questions like "is our rating going up?" or "which bad reviews did we never reply to?". Here's a quick way to get them all into a spreadsheet.

What Google gives you

• Business Profile (search or Maps): lets you read and reply to reviews one by one. No export.
• Google Takeout: exports reviews you wrote as a customer, not reviews of your business.
• Business Profile API: can list your reviews, but needs a Google Cloud project, approval from Google and some code.

The quick way: export from Google Maps

Your reviews are public on your Google Maps listing, so you can export them from there with the free Maps Reviews Exporter extension. No login or API access is needed.

1. Add Maps Reviews Exporter to Chrome.
2. Open your business on Google Maps and click Reviews.
3. Click the extension and press Collect reviews. It scrolls through every review and expands the long ones.
4. Click Export CSV and open the file in Excel or Google Sheets.

Three things to do with the spreadsheet

1. Find reviews with no reply

Filter the owner response column for empty cells, then sort by star rating. Replying to the 1 and 2 star reviews first is the fastest way to show future customers you care.

2. Track your rating month by month

Each row has an estimated calendar date. Make a pivot table with month as rows and the average of the rating column as values. The Pro version also builds this summary for you.

3. See what people mention most

Search the text column for words like "wait", "price", "rude" or "clean" to spot patterns. Pro adds a most-mentioned-words list and a keyword filter.

Do it for competitors too

The same steps work on any business in Google Maps. Export your three closest competitors and compare their complaints with yours. It's one of the cheapest bits of market research you can do.
